In mid 1999, armed with the highest quality SQG waste packaging components in the industry, supported by the most technologically advanced medical waste processing facility available and a solid regulatory compliant track record, Medical Waste Management introduced the ‘Purolator’ shipping program concept to the Ontario Ministry of Environment for their expert evaluation.

The primary intent of this initiative was to provide a convenient, cost-effective and environmentally safe program for managing Small Quantity Generator medical waste, within Ontario but outside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) where transportation does not pose any problems.

Upon examining and evaluating the intended superior MWM packaging components, recommended systems, checks and balances, the MOE approved a one year controlled and monitored trial of the program, where detailed monthly summary reports were submitted for continued evaluation. After a full year of flawless performance and substantial growth, the trial program was converted to a commercially Approved program.

The Ministry of Environment has since issued Medical Waste Management and Purolator Courier an exclusive Certificate of Approval - in partnership, for the pick-up and transport of small quantities of medical and dental waste in rural Ontario (outside of the GTA). This innovative program has levelled the price playing field for small quantity medical and dental waste generators across the Province.
